SHEBOYGAN (WXOW) – Closing arguments are expected in Sheboygan County Circuit Court where a 14-year-old boy is on trial in the death of an elderly woman.
Nathan Paape's testimony ended on Wednesday when Paape and his accused accomplice, Antonio Barbeau, took the witness stand and gave varying accounts of how Barbeau's 78-year-old great-grandmother was killed.
According to Sheboygan Press Media, Paape claimed he only hit Barbara Olson with a hammer twice out of fear that Barbeau would turn on him. Paape also said the robbery and murder were plotted and proposed by Barbeau just hours before they went to Olson's house. Paape says he thought Barbeau was joking about killing his great-grandmother.
Officials say Barbeau has already been convicted of first-degree intentional homicide and is awaiting sentencing.
