LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Competition for the Mississippi River Rumble bass fishing tournament began this morning in La Crosse.
Nearly 100 of the best Bassmaster Elite anglers from around the world are searching the backwaters of the Mississippi for largemouth and smallmouth bass.
The tournament, which runs through Sunday, is being held in La Crosse for the second time. Local anglers like Scott Tanke say they are excited to learn more about the sport from some of the best in the world.
"This is great for fishermen to come and see what they are doing and meet them," Tanke said. "We can also see what they are doing differently. I think this is great for non-fishermen to come to the weigh-ins and see what this is all about."
The first weigh-in is this afternoon at 3:15 at Veteran's Park on French Island. The public is encouraged to attend.
