EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- The Loggers enjoy the view from the top once again.
Wednesday nights' win combined with Lakeshore's loss put La Crosse back in a two-way tie with the Chinooks for first place in the Northwoods League South. That's with just two weeks left in the season's first half.
The Loggers hit the road again Thursday night where they wrapped up two-game series with the Eau Claire Express.
Eau Claire struck first. Tim Zier drove in a run on a base hit to right field. Eau Claire would get out to a 2-0 lead.
La Crosse's offense woke up in the 7th. With two on, Brandon DeFazio knocked a base hit scoring Eric Toole to cut the lead in half. Kevin Zak took the very next pitch out of Carson Park. Zak's three-run home run proved to be the difference.
The Loggers won 4-2 over the Express. La Crosse improved to 15-8 with the win. They return to Copeland Park for a three-game series with Wisconsin starting Friday night.
