UDPATE; Houston County roads opening again after flooding

HOUSTON COUNTY, Minnesota (WXOW) -- According to a news release from the Minnesota DOT, Highway 16 in between Houston and Hokah is now open. 

The road had been closed since 10 a.m. but was reopened at 4:15 p.m. 

Highway 76 between Caledonia and Houston is open for traffic again.  It had been closed due to high water by the Yucatan bridge.

HOUSTON COUNTY, Minnesota (WXOW) – Houston County Sheriff's Department has closed parts of eight county roads due to flooding after the Saturday night/Sunday morning storm.

 As of 11 a.m., the following county roads are closed:

  • County Road 4 closed by Rooster Valley
  • County Road 5 closed by New Albin, Iowa
  • County Road 10 closed in the Sheldon Township area
  • County Road 12 closed in the valley up toward County 11
  • County Road 15 closed by the Fillmore County line
  • County Road 25 closed between State 16 and County 21
  • County Road 27 closed west of Bangs Road
  • County Road 31 closed from County 5 to County 2

State Road 16 just east of Houston and State Road 76 south of Houston are also closed for major water damage.

The sheriff's department advises travelers to stay home.
