LA CRESCENT, MN (WXOW) - The Minnesota strawberry season started this week which is about two weeks later than normal.
Typically strawberry season starts earlier in June but due to the cold spring, the season got a late start. But for Kathan's Homestead Berries in La Crescent, the late start to the season has still left them with plenty of fresh strawberries for their customers.
"The berries are better than ever. They're always good. Customers are coming in happy with their berries and leaving happy," says Libby Kathan, a manager at Kathan's Berries.
Last spring, the strawberry season started two weeks earlier than usual because of the warm and dry spring.
Kathan's expects the strawberry season to run through the 4th of July.
