Sparta, Wisconsin - (WXOW) - Two people were injured in a vehicle crash in Monroe County on Monday morning.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Department said Myron A. Leis, age 59, of Sparta, was driving when he fell asleep along Highway 71. His vehicle crossed the center line and hit a bridge pier before ending in a cornfield on its wheels.
Eric A. Leis, age 44, of Kendall, was the passenger in the accident. Both men went to Mayo Clinic Health System in Sparta for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Myron Leis was later released from the hospital, while Eric Leis was transferred to a hospital in La Crosse.
Deputies said Myron was wearing his seatbelt. They're still trying to determine whether or not Eric was wearing his seatbelt.
