Zellers Enters MN Governor's Race

WINONA, Minnesota (WXOW) - The Minnesota governor's race has a new candidate.

Former Speaker of the House Republican Kurt Zellers told us that his first priority would be staying competitive with Wisconsin for jobs.

Zellers said, "Number one would be making sure that, not only are we competitive in south east Minnesota, but how about we go play on their side of the fifty yard line and bring a few jobs back over the river. That would be my first priority as governor, but then also a healthy respect and a common sense attitude towards our budget."

Zellers believes that his experience as Speaker of the House is what makes him stand out over other Republicans in the race. He lost the leadership role he gained in 2010 when democrats took control of the house after the 2012 elections. Even though he is no longer speaker, he is serving his sixth term in the house.
