Two major Crawford County roads remain shut down


PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Crawford County continues to work on re-opening roads Friday afternoon closed by storm damage.

A release from the Wisconsin Emergency Operations Center states WI Highway 35 from Lynxville to Prairie du Chien is still closed from mud and rock debris that washed down over the roadway earlier this week.

WI Highway 61 also remains closed from WI 60 to Boscobel from a large mudslide. 



PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Two major roads in Crawford County remain closed Wednesday afternoon from mudslides.

The Wisconsin Emergency Operations Center reports US 61 is closed between WI 60 East and Boscobel from a single, but large mudslide nearly 200 yards long.  WI 35 remains shut down to traffic from Lynxville and Prairie du Chien due to a series of mudslides and debris on the roadways.

The WEM in their latest news release states that minor flooding continues along the Kickapoo River at Steuben and Gays Mills.  Flood stage at Steuben is 12 feet.  The river stage Wednesday afternoon was 12.82 feet.  In Gays Mills, the river stage is 14.08 feet, more than a foot above the flood stage of 13 feet.
