HOLMEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Cycling in the Coulee Region also helped fund programming for kids at the La Crosse Area Family YMCA.
About 160 cyclists participated in the Y-Cycle Weekend in Brice Prairie Saturday and in Holmen Sunday.
Staff said attendance was up from last year after the YMCA created a new Y Not 30 ride – a non-aggressive, timed, 30-mile bike ride.
Proceeds from the rides will go toward the Y's Strong Kids Campaign, said Alison Huppert, YMCA director of operations.
"All the proceeds will go directly back to support our communities through the Y programs that we offer. Stuff such as our teen center or our diabetes prevention program, Livestrong at the YMCA – those are the types of programs that YMCA strong kids campaign fundraises for," Huppert said.
A portion of the funds from Saturday's ride will go toward Brice Prairie conservation efforts.
