Press Release from the Prescott Police Department: Emilie Jeanne Whaley, 59, of Prescott, Wis. has been identified as the person who is the subject of the death investigation presently being conducted by the Prescott Police Department.
Her husband, Robert John Whaley, 60, is being held at the Pierce County Jail in Ellsworth, Wis. in connection with the death. He was booked on a charge of first degree reckless homicide. Formal charges are pending with the Pierce County District Attorney's Office.
"Our initial investigation showed that Ms. Whaley's death may be drug-related and Mr. Whaley may have provided that drug to Ms. Whaley," Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko. "We are awaiting the results of an autopsy and toxicology test results from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office."
Further details will not be released until such time as charges are filed against Mr. Whaley.
Press Release from the Prescott Police Department: On Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at approximately 4:11 am, Prescott police and emergency medical services were dispatched to a residence on River Terrace Street in the City of Prescott for a report of an unresponsive 59-year-old woman who lived at the residence. Efforts to revive the woman were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead by the Pierce County Medical Examiner.
According to Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko, the circumstances of the death are suspicious and may be drug-related. Police questioned and subsequently arrested a 60-year-old man, who is the deceased woman's husband, and transported him to the Piece County Jail. Charges are pending with the Pierce County District Attorney's Office.
The deceased woman's body was taken the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Police are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The name of the victim will not be released until Wednesday, July 3 because out of state relatives have not yet been notified.
Prescott police were assisted by Pierce County Sheriff's Deputies.
The death remains under investigation by the Prescott Police Department.
