LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- It's exactly what the Loggers needed.
Obviously any team wants to win, but it's almost more significant for La Crosse to clean out the bitter aftertaste of the first half finale with a trio of wins start to the second half. It's as if they're saying, "We're not worried. We'll just get this one."
La Crosse picked up win number three on the second half on Saturday night against Battle Creek.
With a scoreless game in the bottom of the second, Brandon DeFazio hit a line drive to left-center that just got by a diving Bombers center fielder and scooted all the way to the wall. The run scored from first to put the Loggers on the board first.
Tied at two in the 5th, Michael Katz came up with the bloop single to shallow center. Two lumbermen crossed the plate to make it a 4-2 La Crosse lead.
The very next batter, Chris Keck, blasted a three-run home run to put the Loggers up 7-2. Keck's homer was part of a six-run 5th inning. DeFazio also padded his stats with a home-run later in the game.
The Loggers show no signs of slowing down after the 9-4 win. La Crosse improved to 3-0 on the second half of the season. They play Battle Creek again Sunday night at 5:05 p.m.
