LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- If the Loggers have one message for the second half of the season, it's simply, "Bring it on." They've done well to forget the disappointment of the first half finale winning their first four games.
And after defeating Battle Creek Sunday night, La Crosse improved to 17-1 on the season when leading first.
They got there thanks to a pair of back-to-back home runs in the 4th. Chris Keck blasted a no-doubt solo shot to right. The very next batter, Brandon DeFazio, hit a towering drive to left to make it a 3-0 Loggers lead in the 4th.
Another part of the equation on Sunday was starting pitcher Josh Frye. Frye worked 7.2 innings, striking out nine Bombers and only allowing three hits.
Then in the 5th, La Crosse added insurance with a Johnny Bekakis RBI double to left field. Kevin Zak plated the run.
La Crosse went on to win 4-2 over the Bombers. The win moved the Loggers to 4-0 in the second half standings.
