Gordon nears perfection, Post 336 rolls

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- The Onalaska legion baseball team improved to 2-1 in their home tournament Saturday as Dustin Gordon threw a one-hitter to lead Post 336 over West Salem.

Onalaska jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the 5th inning. Logan Adams scored a sacrifice RBI in the 3rd, while Brock Rude stole home in the 5th to make it a four run lead.

That proved to be plenty of run support for Gordon. The Onalaska starter carried a perfect game through six and 2/3 innings. Brent Servais doubled with two outs in the 7th to break up perfection. Gordon, however, came right back and collected one of seven strikeouts to complete the one-hit gem.

"I was just relying on my curve ball," said Gordon. "I didn't have everything with my fastball today, so I was just throwing off-speed up there, trying to keep them off-balance. They didn't hit it too well, but when they did, my defense made plays for me."

Onalaska plays Winona in the 4:30 p.m. game Sunday afternoon.
