Pierce County (WQOW) - Attempted murder charges were filed against a western Wisconsin man who's accused of punching his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach.
Jessy Holtzkamp was arrested last week in Prescott. Police say his girlfriend was 13 weeks along when he punched her several times in the stomach in an attempt to cause a miscarriage. An officer says Holtzkamp told him he did not want a child because he is only 18 years old and in his words, it "would be a baby raising a baby." Police say he also expressed concerns about what the unborn child had already been exposed to.
According to the charges, Holtzkamp's girlfriend stopped answering questions when she found out he was being arrested. When Holtzkamp learned the charge was attempted murder, police say he started making himself out to be a celebrity, almost boasting about the charge.
Police say the unborn baby survived, but no other information can be released.
