Matt Ditman held the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters off the board for the entire game, recording the fifth complete game shutout in the Northwoods League this season, as the Wisconsin Woodchucks defeated the Rafters 12-0.
Ditman went the distance, allowing no runs on eight hits with no walks and six strikeouts. The Rice sophomore threw only 97 pitches, 68 of which were strikes. It was the first complete game shutout since Adam Kramer's shutout of the Madison Mallards in July of 2012 in a rain-shortened game that lasted five innings.
The Woodchucks win was their first of the summer against the rival Rafters. The second game of this three-game series is set for 7:05 Thursday night at Witter Field.
