ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- It certainly doesn't feel like hockey season. Don't tell that to the Coulee Region Chill.
Now, one month removed from the 2013 NAHL draft, the Chill start up their summer training camp. Some familiar faces returned to the Omni Center on Thursday. A.J. Degenhardt will see his first full year as head coach, and much of the Chill forward lines remain in tact.
What's new for 2013?
Defense. Degenhardt and the Chill used three of their first four draft picks and the trading market to shore up their blue line.
"That was a priority of ours to pick up a couple of new defensemen," said Degenhardt. "That's obviously a big part. I'm a defense-first kind of guy. I'm an up-tempo style, but you know, it starts from the back end. There were some holes that we needed to fill from last years team there, and we addressed that in the first couple rounds."
The Chill camp continues through the weekend.
