Humane Society cats looking for the Purr-fect family

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) – After taking in an overwhelming number of cats, the Coulee Region Humane Society hosted a "SPF 25" cat adoption this weekend.

That means the Humane Society was "Seeking the Purrfect Families" for 25 cats.

Adopters also had the option to name their own price.

The number of homeless animals the society takes in greatly increases in the summer, according to staff.

"During the winter you'll notice that the number will be a lot less. I mean, you'll still get in cats – you'll still get in a decent number of cats – but it's not to the point where you have crates up and kittens in every litter," said Amber Grosch, kennel operations manager.

Grosch said by the end of "SPF 25" Sunday, at least 25 people have put in adoption applications. Not all of them have been approved, yet.
