Chippewa County (WQOW) - Two years ago Monday, a pair of boats crashed on the Chippewa River, killing four people, including three members of a wedding party. No decision has been made about whether criminal charges will be filed.
One of the boat operators died. Investigators said both operators were intoxicated and speeding when their boats collided.
Chippewa County District Attorney Steve Gibbs said he's still waiting for lab results on drug screenings. He said the process has been very slow. When asked whether the screenings were for both boat operators, Gibbs said he could not comment on that right now. He said he is hoping to have the lab results in his office by late August or early September.
