La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) The La Crosse Center is a basketball haven once again.
The Coach Z Hoop Camp is back for a 17th year.
175 campers ages 5 to 14 are learning fundamentals from Washington Wizards assistant coach Don Zierden.
He's been running this camp in La Crosse since his days as a head coach in the old Continental Basketball Association in the late 90's.
But it's more than just about basketball.
"We try to teach about life. Having life skills today are really important. Having two teenagers of my own and seeing how much social media affects the lives of young people today we try to talk about responsibility. We try to talk about being polite. We try to talk about doing the right thing and playing the right way on the basketball floor," Zierden said.
The camp will award two $500 scholarships to former campers to help with their college education.
