Rasch delivers gifts from African nation

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) A little bit of Africa is now on display in the City of La Crosse.

Tuesday morning Western Technical College president Lee Rasch delivered an African mask from Kumbo, Cameroon to La Crosse mayor Tim Kabat. Rasch traveled to the Cameroon earlier this summer to visit some former Western students. Rasch also presented the mayor of Kumbo with a City of La Crosse flag. The Kumbo council voted to officially form a sister city partnership with La Crosse in June.

Mayor Kabat says partnerships like these are important for the La Crosse community. "We've been able to learn and grow. We've been able to expand our awareness of culture and just be part of the wide world out there." Mayor Kabat plans to hang the mask in his office.

La Crosse has six other sister cities. They include: Bantry, Ireland; Dubna, Russia; Epinal, France; Førde, Norway; Friedberg, Germany; and Luoyang, China.
