Holmen Legion seeking repeat

Holmen, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  The Holmen Legion is on their way to the legion state tournament this weekend to defend their Class AA state title.

They'll take on Merrill in the opening round Friday at Luxembourg-Casco High School.

Making it to state is nothing new for Holmen.

They've made it the last four years in a row and won it all last year.

They lost some key players from that team but still have plenty of big-game experience throughout the lineup.

"It's really invaluable is the term I would use because you really can't put a price on experience. Especially going to the state tournament. We're going to see the best teams in the state and there are a lot of teams we've seen before. We play Merrill in the first round who we saw in the Merrill tournament who took us to the limit. So, we're going to have to come out guns blazing, ready to go," said coach Matt Jessessky.

"Now that I've seen it before I can get better mentally prepared for the games and not have to worry about the other teams and just worry about what we can do," said 3rd baseman Andrew Shaw.

Holmen takes a 26-6 record with them to the tournament.
