Alexandria, MINNESOTA (WXOW) Loggers first baseman Michael Katz put himself in the Loggers record books and the Logger put themselves right back into the Northwoods League South Division title hunt.
Katz hit three home runs in a doubleheader sweep over Alexandria.
That gives him 17 for the season, surpassing David Schultz's previous Loggers record.
Katz's three-run home run in the 9th inning of game one gave the Loggers a 7-4 win.
The Loggers scored two in the 7th to tie the game and send it to extra innings (NWL doubleheaders are 7 innings each).
Then in game two Katz added two more home runs to lead La Crosse to an 11-5 win.
Eric Toole also had a home run for the Loggers.
With Lakeshore losing, the Loggers are now just a game and a half behind the Chinooks for first place with 4 to go.
Eau Claire is also in the mix in second place one game behind Lakeshore.
