WATERLOO TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- Tuesday, a farmer alerted authorities after he found a body in a wooded area.
The body was found in close proximity from the location where a missing Dodgeville man's vehicle was located over the weekend.
Kevin Upman says authorities notified him the remains were of his brother, Michael, who had been missing since the end of June.
An autopsy is being conducted in Madison on the cause of death.
WATERLOO TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- The Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of human remains located in a wooded area by a farmer mowing his pasture Tuesday.
Sheriff's detectives went to the scene and immediately secured the area where the remains were found.
Wednesday, with the assistance of the Wisconsin Crime laboratory Mobile Crime Lab, the Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction team, the GCSO Criminal investigation unit, the scene was processed and human remains recovered, among other items.
The body was taken to Madison so an autopsy could be conducted to determine the identity and cause of death.
The remains were located several tenths of a mile from the location where a missing Dodgeville man's vehicle was located over the weekend. Michael Upman has been missing for over a month.
It is currently undetermined who the human remains are and what the cause of death is.
