SPARTA, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Chances are either you or someone you know is battling cancer.
Friday night the Sparta Area Cancer Support hosted its 13th annual cancer walk to raise money to help.
Last year's event raised around $86,400.
Proceeds go to area families battling cancer, and the local Gundersen Health System and Mayo Clinic Health System Hospitals to fund cancer research.
During the event, SACS hosted a luminary ceremony that honored people who have or have had cancer.
For the first time in 13 years, the number of candles in honor of survivors exceeds the number of those who have died from the disease.
