ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A zombie apocalypse hit Onalaska Saturday morning - except the zombies weren't real.
The Onalaska Jaycees and Parks and Rec Department held the first annual "Zombie Quarantine Challenge." About 500 runners attempted to survive the three-mile course along the Greens Coulee Bluffs.
They navigated through nine obstacles or checkpoints while avoiding some hungry zombies. Many humans did not "survive" the course and became zombies themselves.
All money raised by the Jaycees and the Parks and Rec Department will go to other local events and organizations.
