Man, officers involved in Saturday shooting identified

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office says the man shot and killed by police on Saturday is 59-year-old Charles Carll of Madison.

Authorities say an autopsy was completed Monday evening and it concluded Carll's death was the result of firearm-related injuries. The manner of death is pending further investigation.

Carll was shot and killed Saturday after police say they found him with a knife at 5214 Hammersley Road. Officers say he ignored verbal warnings and was tasered, but still acted aggressively towards them.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police have identified the names of the three officers involved in a deadly shooting on the city's west side Saturday.

Officers Alex Bol, Adrian Alan and Ed Marshall are currently on paid administrative leave, pending an investigation of the shooting.

Bol and Alan have been with the Madison Police Department since 2008, and Marshall has been with the force since 2004.

Police said the officers responded to a domestic violence call at 5214 Hammersley Road around 3:20 p.m. Saturday and arrived to find a man with a knife.  The officers say the man ignored verbal warnings and was tasered, but still acted aggressively towards them.  That is when the officers shot the man, who still has not been identified.

Police say the initial call from dispatch indicated the man's wife called 9-1-1 and said she had been stabbed in the stomach.  But Police later said she had not been injured.

Madison Police investigators spent most of Monday still on scene, going over the events with the officers who were involved.

The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office is not expected to release the name of the suspect until late Monday night or Tuesday morning.
