McCarthy may alter approach to 3rd preseason game

Green Bay, WISCONSIN   It is a short week for the Packers in advance of Friday night's nationally televised preseason game against Seattle at Lambeau Field.

That might not be all that's cut short.

The third preseason game is usually the game where the starters play into the third quarter, and it is treated more like a regular season game.

But at least in Green Bay, that tradition might be toast.

"I know from my standpoint, I can't speak for anybody else, with this new CBA schedule, I don't know if that is realistic. We have to create opportunities, we need more information about the players on our roster. The fact that this will be a dress rehearsal, play this game like a regular season game; that's not as true as it was 3 or 4 years ago," said head coach Mike McCarthy.

Kickoff Friday night is set for 7 o'clock.
