DES MOINES, Iowa (WXOW) - The Iowa Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of an Allamakee County man convicted of shooting his girlfriend in the head.
Christopher Thompson fatally shot 40-year-old Angela Gabel during an argument at their Monona home in October, 2010.
A jury found Thompson guilty of second degree murder the following year.
In his appeal, Thompson's attorney's argued on four points including that mental health evidence was left out of the trial and that the jury should have had an instruction for conviction on the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter.
In all four of the issues brought up in the appeal, the Court denied those claims and affirmed the conviction.
