LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – A La Crosse church congregation hopes their new outdoor space will bring the community together.
The Wesley United Methodist Church on King Street has transformed a part of their yard into a sitting area, called the "Grace Space."
There's a new patio, two benches and a picnic table with chairs.
A bike rack will also be installed.
Sunday the congregation blessed the new outdoor sitting area before officially opening it up to the public.
"It's like our front porch swing to get out and meet our neighbors, and to be kind and learn about each other. Just to celebrate what it means to be neighbor and friend in our city," said Rev. Ellen Rasmussen.
The entire project cost about $6,000. It was funded by the church's trustees fund and donations from members.
