LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—Move in day was Tuesday at Western Technical College.
Classes at Western begin on Thursday.
Students were lined up out the door to check in to their dorm.
Western has one residence hall that 200 students will call home this year.
Students moving their things in told us they chose to live on campus to get a taste of life on their own.
"It's going to be a new experience," Justin Schaefer, first year student said. "I'll have to do all my own laundry and stuff so that's not going to be too fun but its kind if just an eye opening thing."
After commuting from Viroqua for half of last school year, Cara Hill decided to move into the dorms.
"You just get to make so many more friendships and it's easier to reach people," Hill said. "You get your schedules all set up and be like ok I know you're in this room."
Western is expecting about 1,469 full time students this year.
