LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A promotion to encourage local banking helped fill the gas tanks of a couple of hundred vehicles Wednesday.
Coulee Bank gave the first 200 customers $20 worth of free gas at the State Road Kwik Trip store.
As part of a national "Take Back Your Banking' campaign to get communities 'pumped up' about banking locally, banks take over a gas station.
Brad Sturm the CEO and President of Coulee Bank in La Crosse says "the analogy might be high gas prices high bank fees and so we're here educating people and helping them out with those high gas prices."
Nationally, more than $150,000 worth of gas will be given away during the campaign.
