Madison, WISCONSIN (WXOW) The media's obsession with who will start at quarterback for the Badgers on Saturday has overshadowed a story of perseverance.
James White is scheduled to start at tailback.
Hard to believe but it will be the senior's first collegiate start.
White rushed for more than 1,000 yards as a freshman and has been heavily utilized ever since.
But he's always played second fiddle.
And the honor of actually starting means a lot to the White considering his last start came four years ago in high school.
"Yeah, it's been a while. I've always been locked in to the game and whenever I got my opportunity to get on the field, I tried to make a play for my team. I definitely think it's a big chance. It's an opportunity to prove myself. I feel like I have a lot to prove. I've been working hard this camp, just trying to be a leader and make my game better, become a better player. So, I can come out there and execute this first game," White said.
White and the Badgers begin the season this Saturday against Massachusetts at Camp Randall Stadium.
