ONALASKA, WI (WXOW) - The Onalaska Fire Department raised over $10,000 in their Fill the Boot for MDA campaign last week.

$10,370 to be exact. That is about $200 more than they raised last year.

All the money goes to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This is the fifth year the fire department has raised money for MDA.

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Onalaska firefighters will be out this weekend using their fire boots to collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year they were able to raise over $10,000 and hope to do so again this year.

They used donations from last year's campaign to buy an electric wheelchair for a local boy with Muscular Dystrophy.

"Obviously every year we want to try and out do what we did last year so above and beyond 10,000 dollars," says Onalaska firefighter, Brian Everson.

Firefighter Dave Winiecki gives credit to the community, "the people of this community are really great, showing great support for MDA and their fellow citizens."

The firefighters will be out on Friday from 3:00pm until 6:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am until 11:30am at the Onalaska Festival Foods, East Main Street and Theatre Road and 2nd Avenue and Main Street.
