Eau Claire, WISCONSIN (WXOW) La Crosse Central scored the first 18 points of the game against Eau Claire Memorial, then needed a defensive stand in the 4th quarter to preserve an 18-15 win over the Old Abes.
The kickoff was moved to 11am in Eau Claire to combat the heat.
Lamont Murphy had 134 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Central.
Michael Flock returned an interception 38 yards for a score as well.
But Memorial cut that lead to 3 late in the 4th quarter before Alex Hayden came up with a game-saving interception.
Central had 4 interceptions on the day and improve to 2-0 on the season.
