La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse
soccer team fell 3-0 to the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) Sunday
afternoon in the Eagles' regular-season opener. Saint Benedict improves
to 1-0-1 on the season with the win.
Aly Hoffman scored her first goal of the match at 34:56 with an assist
from Colleen Bouchard to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead. Saint Benedict
led 1-0 at halftime.
The Blazers' Kristina Burk made it 2-0 at 72:31 with Bouchard
registering the assist off a corner kick. Hoffman finished the scoring
at 87:23 off a Cassandra Miedema assist.
UW-L finished with nine shots, including five on goal. Kirsten Anderson, Jamie Ochsenwald and Ali Roberts each had two shots in the match, including one on goal.
Saint Benedict recorded 19 shots, including 12 on goal.
The Eagles' Ashley Tracy finished with nine saves while the Blazers' Megan Favorite recorded five to earn the shutout victory.
It was the first meeting between the teams since 1999.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, September 4 hosting Marian University (Wis.) at 7 p.m.
