near SIMPSON, Minn. (KTTC) -- Authorities are investigating a report that more than 70 cows are suspected of being severely malnourished and at least three are reportedly dead on a farm in Olmsted County.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a complaint Tuesday night on the 3000 block of 75th Street Southeast near Simpson.
When deputies arrived at the address, they found more than 70 animals that appeared to show signs of neglect or malnourishment.
According to the sheriff's office, three cattle were found dead and others were said to be in life-threatening condition.
Authorities say the case is now in the hands of a local veterinarian, who's going to determine what actually has happened with the animals.
Meanwhile, Olmsted County officials say a rendering company has been contacted to dispose of the animals that have died.
The farm's owner was not available for comment tonight.
