LEWISTON, Minn. (KTTC) -- Officials at Lewiston Villa Nursing Home say the facility will close by Oct. 24.
Employees, residents and families were informed in late August that the 42 bed nursing home at 505 East Main Street would close.
The facility is owned by DeLoughery Home Limited Partnership and managed by Benedictine Health System in Duluth.
Robert Liebig, managing partner, DeLoughery Home Limited Partnership, said in a new release that "Like many Minnesota nursing homes, Lewiston Villa has been challenged by declining census due to increased competition, by stagnant reimbursement and rising costs. Due to serious health issues, the lead partners can no longer dedicate the necessary time and energy to address the ongoing challenges associated with continuing to own Lewiston Villa Nursing Home."
The closing means 65 jobs will be lost and 35 residents will need to relocated. Benedictine Health System is working to find job opportunities for the employees and is helping the residents find new nursing home care.
