EAU CLAIRE (WAOW) – A baby born to a 15-year-old mother who was the victim of repeated sexual abuse was found dead in a home after the teenager went to a hospital with complications from childbirth, Eau Claire police said Friday.
“It was determined the infant died as a result of homicidal actions,” Lt. Jim Southworth said in a statement.
The investigation into the baby's death started Aug. 28, Southworth said.
The man believed to be the baby's father, 48-year-old Larry Johnson of Eau Claire, was arrested, Southworth said.
“Johnson admitted to having repeatedly sexually assaulted the 15-year-old female over the course of several years,” Southworth said. “Johnson also stated he believed he was the biological father of the deceased infant.”
Johnson was charged Friday with first-degree sexual assault of a child and repeated acts of sexual assault of the same child, according to online Eau Claire County Circuit Court records.
A delinquency petition was filed in juvenile court regarding the 15-year-old girl's involvement in the death of the baby, Southworth said.
No other details were released, including the relationship between Johnson and the teenager. Southworth did not immediately return a telephone message Friday afternoon.
