West Salem's Spectacular Start

LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW) --------- The Panthers of West Salem have come roaring out of the gates to start the 2013 season with a perfect 7-0 record.

After losing 8 starters from last season's team, West Salem has reloaded a team that reached the Regional Finals last year. "These guys coming into this year looked at that and said you know that's how good we could be. We were right there we were as good as they were and we legitimately had a shot," said West Salem Head Coach David Halverson.

Leading the way for West Salem this season is Ethan Modawell, the senior has dominated on the pitch scoring 16 goals in the team's first 6 games, "I'm hoping to get 25 goals this season cause if I do that I break the record for West Salem if I could that would be outstanding that would be something good to put on a resume," said Modawell.

Undefeated season or not the Panthers have one goal for this season, to become the first team in school history to play at the state tournament in Milwaukee. "Coach told us at the beginning of the year that he plays to be playing in the first week of November which is the state final which is the ultimate goal for all of us but as long as we keep playing hard with the drive that we go I think we can go as far as we want to," said West Salem senior Chad Seitz.
