LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The historic Julia Belle Swain will be on display in Riverside Park this weekend.
Tuesday night, the Committee of the Whole cleared the way for negotiations to begin on a long term use agreement between the city and the steamboat.
The group called "Save the Julia Belle Swain", is still in the process of raising about 1 million dollars to restore the steamboat, and its 100 year old engine.
The Julia Belle was built in 1970, and toured La Crosse for 13 years, but hasn't cruised the river for the past five years.
The non-profit bought the Julia Belle in July and will dock the boat at Riverside Park Saturday.
