La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) It's not the start UW-La Crosse envisioned so they're anxious to put their opening game loss to Dubuque behind them.
Another tough team awaits.
The Eagles host 6th-ranked North Central this Saturday.
The Eagles dug themselves a deep hole against Dubuque before making a second half run that came up short, 35-24.
It was a disappointing start to a season in which the Eagles have high hopes.
But it's just one game.
And now comes a North Central squad in which the Eagles upset last season on the road.
"Very anxious to get back out there. Nobody want to come off week one from a game we definitely should've won. We knew we were the better team. But it happens. We just got to put it in the past. Been there before. Just got to go out there and get the "W," said linebacker Shane Rockweiler.
"We just got to get out there and perform. That's the biggest thing. We always talk about all the work we put in and all the time we've put in and everything we've done. But really all that matters is coming out and performing. Offense and defense need to work together. One thing we talked about was finishing. When we get in the red zone we've got to punch it in," said receiver Jeff Haffeman.
Eagles and North Central kickoff Saturday at 1pm.
