LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – TheLa Crosse Fire Department said last Wednesday's fire at Trane Company was started with a torch during demolition work at the facility.
The fire was reported about 6:50a.m. at a Trane Co. lab on La Crosse's south side.
A La Crosse Fire Department spokesperson said acontractor was doing demolition work with a torch when he started someinsulation on fire.
About 30-employeeshad to evacuate the building. Officials say everyone made it out safely.
Fire fighters had to cut severalholes in the roof to both douse the fire with water and also keep track of itsmovements.
An estimate on how much damagewas done to the building has still not been released.
