DNR offers bonus for hunters who take the time to teach

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A new program aims to recruit new people to an old sport.

The DNR is offering a bonus to active hunters who recruit three or more new people into hunting. If three new hunters list a licensed hunter as their mentor, that hunter will get a license of their choice at half-cost the next year. The DNR says this program aims to reward hunters who take the time to help new hunters. Novice hunters can purchase a first-time license for five dollars. The DNR says the number of hunters has declined by one or two percent every year for the last ten years.
