St. Paul, MINNESOTA (WXOW) The momentum from last season's post-season run is carrying over to this season already and the hockey Badgers have yet to play a game.
But that didn't stop the coaches from voting the Badgers as the preseason favorite to win the newly sanctioned Big Ten conference.
That's the word from the Big Ten's Hockey Media Day Thursday in St. Paul.
The Badgers return a wealth of talent and experience from last year.
"It's kind of logical in the fact that we are an upper classman team. I know when I looked at rankings or when I'm asked to do them I look at the roster to see how many upper classmen we have. History tells us teams that are upper classman teams are teams that do well. We fall in that category. So, it's logical that we be placed there," said head coach Mike Eaves.
Wisconsin last won a national title in 2006.
