LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The Walmart Bass Fishing League tournament took off from Copeland Landing Saturday morning.
It's the fifth and final competition for the Great Lakes Division.
The top 20 percent will fish in Sunday's qualifiers for an award around $5,000 and the chance to compete at the regional competition in Benton, Kentucky.
The winning weight is expected to be around 32 lbs.
"The Mississippi River system is loaded with large mouth and small mouth. It's a great fishery. These guys I guess they know where they live because there'll be a bunch of fish at weigh-in this afternoon, "said Mike Hale, tournament director for FLW.
More than 100 anglers participated in Saturday's competition.
