LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The Oktoberfest family welcomed its newest member Sunday.
Conner Ellis, 9, is the 2013 Special Fester.
"It's awesome because I like the cheering crowd. I like to get cheered at," said Ellis.
It's a position chosen by Chileda, a local school for children with special needs. Ellis is not a student there, but he has Asperger's, a disorder on the Autism spectrum.
Over the past couple of years, Ellis has helped Chileda by recycling aluminum cans for money, and donating 10 percent of his profit to the school.
This year, with the help of community donations, Ellis' family said he donated $2,200.
Ellis said he's very excited about participating in the Torchlight Parade and getting a bucket of candy by the end.
