LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - UPDATE: The man suspected of shooting three people has a criminal charge of attempted homicide filed against him.
Court records show that one count of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide-Use of a Dangerous Weapon was filed against 33-year-old Almondo Baker on Monday in La Crosse.
Baker was arrested early Monday morning in Lee County, Florida and taken to jail for lying to police by giving a false name according to a spokesperson from the Lee County Sheriff's Department.
He remains jailed in the Lee County Jail in Ft. Myers.
LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The man suspected in the shooting of three people in La Crosse in August is arrested in Florida early Monday morning.
33-year-old Almondo Baker was arrested shortly after 4:00 a.m. in Lee County Florida when he gave a police officer the wrong name.
Baker is wanted in connection with a shooting that took place on the south side of La Crosse on August 31. Three people were injured when shots were fired on 1020 Farnam Street just after 5 a.m.
Baker had his first court appearance in Lee County, Florida Monday. Although he received a $5,000 cash bond on the charge, he remains in custody in Fort Myers on the fugitive warrant from Wisconsin.
Before he can return to La Crosse to face charges here, Baker will need to contest or waive extradition proceedings in Florida.
