LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- The unemployment rate in the city of La Crosse and La Crosse County drops according to the latest state statistics.
They're part of the majority of Wisconsin cities and most counties where the rate fell in August.
The state Department of Workforce Development reported Wednesday that rates dropped in all of Wisconsin's 32 largest cities and in 69 of 72 counties.
La Crosse's rate fell from 6.7% in July to 6.3% in August. La Crosse County saw the unemployment numbers go from 5.4% in July to 5.1% in August.
Racine has the highest unemployment rate at 11.2 percent in August. Beloit is second at 10.9 percent followed by Milwaukee at 9.8 percent.
Unemployment increased in only Bayfield County, where it went from 7.5 percent to 8.3 percent. Menominee County had the highest at 16.7 percent followed by Iron County at 9.8 percent.
Both La Crosse and the county's rates are below the statewide unemployment rate of 6.8 percent in August, and less than the national rate of 7.3 percent.
