LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - He's the first Festmaster who is younger than the Oktoberfest itself.
He and his wife Denise, or frau Denise, since we're talking Oktoberfest here, have been active volunteering for local charities for years as longtime residents of La Crosse along with their two children.
Meet the 2013 Oktoberfest Festmaster: Dave Ring.
He works in governmental relations for Kwik Trip, while his wife Denise is a teacher at Aquinas.
The newly chosen Festmaster was revealed to a large crowd at the La Crosse Center Friday evening at the annual Festmaster's Ball.
The Rings say they are honored to represent the city of La Crosse as Festmaster and Frau and look forward to being part of a long-time tradition.
"My parents took me to Oktoberfest. We went to Oktoberfest. We took our kids to Oktoberfest and I'm sure some day they will take their kids to see all that it has to offer," said Ring.
Besides taking part in a whirlwind of activities during the fest, the Rings will represent Oktoberfest and La Crosse at festivals and events around the region for the next year.
