LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Rivalries were the back story across the region in college sports Saturday-locally from the volleyball court to the football fields of Minnesota and Ohio State.
Here in La Crosse, UW-La Crosse visited Viterbo in volleyball. The winner would get the Coulee Cup. The V-Hawks split the first two sets with UW-L, then won the final two sets to win the match 3-2.
On the gridiron:
Number 4 Ohio State faced Number 23 Wisconsin Saturday night. OSU QB Braxton Miller had four TD passes as the Buckeyes hold off the Badgers in Big Ten play 31-24.
Minnesota lost their first game of the season and the trophy named Floyd of Rosedale as the Iowa Hawkeyes beat the Gophers 23-7.
Behind Chichi Ojika's 242 yards and 2 rushing TD's, the Winona State Warriors knock off Minot State 49-14. Quarterback Jack Nelson threw for 219 yards and 3 TD's in the win.
